What to Expect When You Are Expecting…to Ride!

You signed up to ride BRAKING AIDS® Ride! What should you be expecting? A lot!

Here is what you can expect from me, your Rider coach:

  • Emails! Lot’s of emails with updates on upcoming events, training rides, training and fundraising tips, updates on the incredible work being done by Housing Works, and much more!
  • Clinics! How to train and fundraise, fix a flat, maximize the time you have available to you to get the best results…and on and on.
  • Help! I am always here to help you! I will check in with you occasionally, but never hesitate to reach out to me with questions or for more info. My job is literally to help you and I love it!
  • Nudging. I will nudge you to volunteer for pre-Ride events, bring your friends to parties (we throw a lot of parties), start fundraising early and set a giant goal, etc. Oh, and to wear a fabulous red frock on day two of the Ride, but more on that in another post.

What can you expect from your fellow Riders and Crew? There simply are not words to answer this question. Your new Ride family will exceed your expectations in every way. You will be surrounded by the most supportive, generous people you have ever met, so please don’t hesitate to come to parties, training rides, etc. You will fit right in! We’ve all been “the new guy” at one point or another, but in this group that “new guy” feeling only lasts a moment.

What can you expect from yourself? Between now and September 10th you will feel energized, inspired, unflappable, tired, vulnerable, overwhelmed, calm, excited…you name it, you’ll feel it! But remember, you are in for a journey! An amazing, challenging, fun, inspiring journey that will very likely change your perspective on what you are capable of for the rest of your life. Need to laugh, or cry, or scream, or brag? Call me.

What can you expect from Housing Works? Inspiration! Leadership! Passion! Again, there are no words. Housing Works has been on the front lines of the fight against AIDS since the very beginning of the epidemic providing direct services, housing, job training, placement and so much more. They are radically inclusive, relentless, fierce advocates for all people living with HIV/AIDS. Make sure and follow them on social media (scroll to the bottom for the links) and their AIDS Issues Update Blog to keep up to speed on what they are doing, including the AIDS Free Campaign.

Not registered yet? What are you waiting for? Get on your ass and Ride!

Again, I am always here to help you, so never hesitate to reach out to me with questions or for more information.
